As October begins it is that time of year where people are seeking the thrill of haunted happenings in the area. Check out some of the ghoulish sightings spotted locally.

The Hotel Iola in 2950 State Route 42
Millville, PA 17846

Although this 19th-century hotel building was a restaurant for a while during recent years, it is now reportedly empty and up for sale. The place was said to be haunted, as evidenced by bar stools that rotated by themselves, shadowy forms appearing in long black dresses, and faces wearing Victorian-style collars materializing in the mirrors.

Inn at Turkey Hill 991 Central Rd
Bloomsburg, PA 17815

Housed in an 1839 farmhouse, the inn is said to be haunted by an owner’s mother, who died in the building. Her perfume has been detected, and she is said to walk the place at night. The rocking chair on the porch would move as well. Folks who rented the place in the 1980s reported that the attic door wouldn’t stay closed, so they wedged a knife in to keep it shut. Every Monday morning, the knife was found placed just inside the attic door.

Fishing Creek Lodge Bed & Breakfast 889 Central Rd
Benton, PA

Multiple appearances of ghost(s) in different rooms to different guests.  Doors opened on their own, unexplained noises at night.

Irondale Inn 100 Irondale Rd
Bloomsburg, PA 17815

Three ghosts are said to reside at this inn set on the site of an old plantation, one of which is an elderly female who likes to close doors behind the guests. The inn’s ghosts are said to come from a large heating vent located in the basement. The owners have come home to find the lid to the hot tub removed and the normally closed door to the kitchen wide open, although no one was in the inn at the time.

The Montrose House 26 S. Main St.
Montrose, PA 18801-1321

The original building that stood here was once a jail, a funeral home, and a schoolhouse, but that building burned down in the 1920s. The current building was finished in 1926 and is said to be haunted by a little boy’s ghost. He is seen often in the halls and has been known to play tricks; they say room 5 is his favorite. He knocks on doors at all hours of the night and runs away, often giggling. He removes the window shades and sets them neatly on the pillows, and changes the time on the clocks.

Another ghost said to live here is a man who has been seen near the front office. He is said to look extremely real. Also, it is said that during the equinoxes, objects have been thrown across the dining room.

Have a spooktacular time checking out some of these thrilling sightings.
